Help Your Voice Go Free – Writing Workshop
Jerina Page
Mondays 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, (no class 10/15), 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12
6- 7:30
Cost: $50
Join the G.R.A.C.E. Writing Group to learn and practice writing techniques that will unlock the power of your writer’s voice, no matter what kind of writing you want to do.
Learn how to help smother that editor in your head. Premature, compulsive editing makes writing difficult, dreaded and dead. The changes and pauses between your consciousness and the page damps down your voice. You have a sound, texture and rhythm to your voice that when unleashed creates powerful writing and makes a reader listen to you. You may not like your voice, but it’s the only one you have and your source of powerful writing. If you keep writing your voice will get better and you may like it better. If you stop writing, you’ll never have a voice and never be heard.
Write nonstop 5 minutes a day then bring your favorite selection to our weekly group for positive, noncritical feedback. Your voice will love being set free and make you smile.

5:30 – 8:00pm
Cost: $60
BRING YOUR ACRYLICS and let’s explore the local trees and a two-lesson clinic. Trees are individual living beings that are shaped by their own DNA and the environment. As painters, how do we handle trees as they change through the seasons? What is it we look for and what are some ways to handle trees, with or without leaves, as they change color and shape, in various lights and under various environmental conditions. Explore some of Vermont’s deciduous and coniferous trees and bushes, old trees, young trees, from close up and from far. We’ll explore various transparencies and opacities of acrylic paints, as well. Come and play and learn. As this will be a “night” class, we will be working from photographs, but the principals are the same and you can practice your use of acrylics. You may take what you learn and apply it to your plein air painting, too. Enjoy!
Materials: Paints: red, yellow, blue, burnt umber, white, and black.
Brushes: assorted brushes both flats and rounds
Preferred surface: canvas boards, stretched canvas, gessoed paper.
